cultivateher: CSA Program

Harvested by us, prepared for you.

As an extension of our commitment to empowering mothers of the African diaspora, we're most passionate about exploring innovative models to provide affordable and dignified access to quality food to our community of Black mother-led families and Black low-income families.

As such, we are glad to introduce: cultivateher: CSA program.

Our goal is to increase food security by offering a limited number of subsidized bi-weekly summer produce boxes grown and harvested by us on our farm. By providing fresh, healthy produce, we hope to improve our community's overall health and well-being because when you eat good, you feel good. With one food box at a time, we hope to "nurture mothers with dignified access to nourishing food."

We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, regardless of their income or background. That's why we are committed to creating a sustainable model that benefits both the community and the environment.

How does it work?

Similar to our CSA program, there are a few things to note:

  1. We offer up to five food boxes over ten weeks for both our summer (June- August) & fall (September - November) period, on a bi-weekly basis.

  2. This offer is specifically for Black mother-led families and Black low-income families.

  3. Boxes are available for pick-up either at our farm (160 Downsview Park Blvd) or at our farmer's market at Withrow Park (725 Logan Ave) (more details to follow).

  4. Drop off locations can be made available if there are enough CSA members in a neighbourhood. (more details to follow).

  5. You'll gain access to The Harvest, our membership newsletter that includes tips, recipes and snippet of what's in your box, on a bi-weekly basis.

  6. For accessibility and affordability purposes, our memberships are: Pay- As-You Go & Pay-What-You-Can with sliding scale options on our $40 box.

As we are a small team: from our farmers who consciously prepare produce boxes, to the administrators who ensure everything runs smoothly, we all have a part to play to achieve our goal: nurturing mothers with dignified access to nourishing food. Your participation allows us to scale and offer more accessible options to meet everyone's needs in the future, and for that we are thankful. Communication is key, and we will try our best to accommodate where possible.

Commitment of the Program.
