Empowering Mothers of the African Diaspora

We support the mental health and wellness of Black Solo Mothers and their children in Toronto. We build supportive communities, we host creative and healing workshops, and share tools and resources to help mothers thrive — mind, body and soul.

What Is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu (oob-BOON’-two) is an ancient African concept that means I am because we are. We are all connected and our sense of self is shaped by our relationship with others. Ubuntu requires empathy and compassion to shape our interactions. Ubuntu fosters healing and growth. Ubuntu builds thriving communities.

“I was so excited and learned so much in our herbal medicine workshop that I share this info with my friends and family.”

The Ubuntu Community Collective humbly acknowledges that the land on which we gather and work are the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Mississaugas, Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ and Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee) Nations.
